Happy Friday!!! Okay, so I am addicted to smoothies, even with the temps being in the 20's. They just hit the spot for me in the mornings. This morning's smoothie was simple but delish. I used a cup of hemp milk, 1 scoop or pea protein powder, a dash of cinnamon, and a handful of frozen berry blend (strawberry, blueberry, and blackberry).
I've had a few people to ask me how I like the pea protein powder. I have to say that I really like it. It doesn't really have a taste, so it doesn't affect the taste of your smoothie. You can tell that the protein is in the smoothie though. It has a slight chalky feel, but nothing compared to some of the other protein powders that I've had in the past. I couldn't decide on which type of protein powder that I wanted to try, but after doing some research the Now Pea Protein powder seemed to be the best buy for me. I didn't want anything expensive, but I did want something with a lot of protein. This has 28 grams of protein, and runs around $20. The protein powder in itself is 130 calories with 2 grams of fat per serving. Just what I was looking for. Another good thing about this protein powder is that is does not contain sugar, salt, starch, yeast, wheat, gluten, corn, soy, milk, egg, shellfish, or preservatives. It's also easily digested. My main reason for getting this was to mix into my smoothies after my workouts. I figured my body could use the extra protein after my morning workouts.
I've been meaning to share this note with you that was left on my explorer Saturday when I came out of Wal-Mart. I thought it was pretty cool! It made me smile anyway. :o)
Here are the stickers that this person was talking about. :o) I was going to take a picture of the stickers on my back glass, but my window is NASTY from all this yucky weather.
I love smoothies, too, and want to start drinking more of them for breakfast. I used to and fell away from it.
ReplyDeleteYour stickers are great! How cool that someone left that note. :)
Your smoothie sounds delicious. I've never even heard of pea protein powder!
ReplyDeleteThe smoothie sounds really good with all those berries, pretty color too.
ReplyDeleteThat is a sweet note, I can totally see how it could make your day! I love that Hendrix quote.
Have a good weekend Michelle. :)
What a nice gesture it was to leave the note about your cool stickers. It lets you know you're not alone in your beliefs.
ReplyDeleteI love smoothies, too, but lately I've just felt unable to face their cooling effect on my body. I've been craving HOT oatmeal. I'll be back to smoothies soon, though.
In a world frittered away by detail -- simplify.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet note :) I agree...simplify.
ReplyDeleteI tried pea protein once (different brand) and I almost gagged - it literally tasted like pureed peas to me (and it was blended with fruit!). I returned it and never looked at pea protein again. I wish I liked it, because it's such a quality protein...maybe I'll take a look at this brand.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool about the windshield note! Who does that anymore?! That would've made my day too.
These things are new to me, I never heard of hemp milk, or pea protein (powdered peas?) I wander if they have them in New Zealand...
ReplyDeleteI saw what I thought was hemp milk in your whole foods purchase - can you get that locally? I've never tried it. I still like smoothies in the winter, too.
ReplyDeleteThat is a nice note!
Amber Shea, this pea protein powder doesn't taste anything like pureed peas...to me at least. Maybe you can get a sample of it somewhere. I read where it was the best tasting of the pea protein, so that's why I got this brand. :o)
ReplyDeleteAlessandra, if you find hemp milk where you live, you really need to try it. It's yummy!
Jessica, One of the Krogers here actually carries hemp milk....yay Does your Kroger have it? It was on sale at whole foods...2 for something, so I just had to buy 2. :o)
i tried to make pancakes with that brand of protein.. could never get over the taste/ texture, its probably an ocd thing though...like i KNOW its in there even if it doesnt taste bad...
ReplyDeletei have to try hemp milk..is that your go to milk of choice?
that note is so cool! and very sweet. did you go to her website? im going to go look right now!
Oh, I might have to try that pea protein the next time I run out of my current stash. Glad to know you like it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great note that person left, people usually don't do that, that often anymore. Wish people would though!
