Last night for supper I had some left over spinach & mushroom risotto, sautéed mushrooms & onions, and sautéed carrots & asparagus. I marinated the mushrooms and onions in some red wine for about 15 minutes and then sautéed them. The asparagus and carrots were sautéed in a little olive oil, and then topped with some herbamare seasoning and lemon juice. I told myself that I was NOT going to eat any bread, but the left over crescent rolls from Tuesday night were screaming my name. I couldn't let them go to waste...right?
I started my morning off with another smoothie (I'm addicted). This smoothie consisted of 1 cup water, 1 large handful of spinach, 1 kiwi, 1 frozen banana, 1/4 cup frozen mango chunks (that's all that was left), 3 frozen strawberries, 1/2 teaspoon maca powder, 1 teaspoon flax seeds, 1 tablespoon of honey, and a dash of cinnamon and ginger powder. Another awesome smoothie! I meant to buy some fresh ginger when I went to the grocery store, but forgot. I think fresh ginger would be much better in a smoothie than the powder.
For lunch I had a salad. This one was much better than the one I had on Wednsday. This one was made up of kale, green leaf lettuce, baby carrots, broccoli, cucumbers, alfalfa sprouts, grape tomatoes, and there's some mashed up avocado in there somewhere. I used some fresh squeezed lime juice as my dressing.
Sometimes Kroger has some great bargains. Here's my great find yesterday. I got 10 Larabars for $10. I'm anxious to try them, as I've only tried one flavor. I probably should have left the Kroger where I was and went to another one that has a bigger health food selection, so I could have gotten a better variety of the bars. The one I was at has the smallest health food section out of the 4 that we have in Jackson. That's okay though. I now have 10 bars that I didn't have before. :o)

The cherry larabars are really good. Other than that, I haven't tried too many flavors, either. The salad looks really good!
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite larabar flavor is something like pecan pie, or maybe peanut butter something. I always forget which one I like!
ReplyDeleteBeing prepared seems to be a big deal when you're trying to eat raw food. I agree, that is a great looking salad! I think I can make out a little avocado :)
I am so happy to hear going raw for part of the day is going well, that is fantastic! My favorite Lara bars are cashew cookie and chocolate chip brownie. I haven't tried many either, but can't wait to hear what flavors you got and if you liked them!
ReplyDeleteIt all looks so good. I wish the Lara bars we still raw- but they sold them out to a big company- non of them are officially raw anymore. I love Pure bars though and they are raw.

love larabars! and your salad pic looks like its from a magazine!
ReplyDeleteIt all looks so good! Glad to hear your raw days are going well.
ReplyDeleteEverything sounds great - love the sprouts on the salad.
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous of your Larabar bargains! Apple pie and Cherry pie (the one you have) are pretty much the only two flavors I eat but hell I'd take any for a dollar a bar!
@Debra - That's too bad about the Larabars! I always assumed they were still raw - what do they do? Roast the nuts? Boo. I'll have to find a new bar. Or...make my own. OR stop be addicted to the damn things.
Now that the weather is warming up, I seem to be eating mostly raw until dinner, though not in a planned way, as you are. Too much raw food in winter always seems to leave me feeling cold.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that Larabars weren't still raw. I've gotten great deals on them at Costco, but they only seem to have three flavors, one of which I don't like so much.
Molly - the cherry is the one that I tried first. I really liked it. :)
ReplyDeleteJessica - they didn't have pecan pie, and that sounds really good. I love peanut butter anything.
VeganMom - I have those two bars to try. They both sound very good to me. I let you know what my favorite is out of the ones that I bought. :)
Debra - I'm totally bummed now! I didn't know that Larabar was not considered raw anymore. After these are gone, I'll have to try the pure bars. I haven't tried those yet.
Thanks Michelle! :)
Maud - ha, I was so excited to get those bars, but am bummed now to find out that they aren't raw anymore. You know I'm still going to eat them though. :) I've seen several recipes around on making your own "Larabars". I think I'm going to try making some soon.
Andrea - I don't know if I could do mostly raw in the winter or not.
Wonder why it is that big places like that only carry a few of the flavors, and one seems to always be the one you don't like. Sams was like that with the Cliff bars. I know...total bummer that Larabars are no longer raw...boooo

ReplyDeleteI think most flavors are still raw.
Sorry to be a party pooper, but I don't understand the appeal of those "health" bars. They're a lot of calories in a little package. I believe you're better off eating Medjool Dates on their own. Anyways, awesome looking Salad & Smoothie!
ReplyDeleteMy jaw dropped when I saw your salad. It looks soooo good. It's been about a week or so since I've had one, and I just love them so. That one looks super yummy, and I just love kale in salad. Mm-mmm.
ReplyDeleteGreat looking salad! How great are Larabars? I love those things so very much. I think my favorite will always be peanut butter cookie.
